For the past ten years, the local faith community has come together to offer support to the city's school teachers and administrators. That tradition is set to continue as the new school year approaches.

This year marks the 11th annual "Voices of Faith for Education" service that will be held Monday afternoon at the North Baptist Church in New Bedford.

The service is jointly sponsored by the Inter-Church Council of Greater New Bedford and the Superintendent of New Bedford Public Schools.

Organizer Rev. David Lima says it serves as a reminder to educators that they aren't alone.

"We see it as a way of coming together and offering words of prayer and inspiration and just letting them know there are people in this community that care about them," said Lima.

Along with remarks and reflection, there will also be a liturgical dance performed by the Dennison Girls, who are also students of Gomes Elementary School.

The service begins at 3 pm at 750 County St. All are welcome to attend.
