A Fairhaven woman is facing charges following a series of car breaks in the North End.

Detective Captain Steven Vicente says that around 4 a.m. Friday officers spoke to a witness who saw a woman rummaging through a vehicle on Seabury St. where a small amount of cash had been taken.

Officers got a description of the suspect.

Later in the evening an officer spotted an open gate on Church St. near where two other vehicles had been through and had cash taken.

Police then located a woman, identified as 24-year-old Rebecca Botelho, hiding behind some shrubs.

She was placed under arrest and was scheduled to be arraigned Friday morning in New Bedford District Court on three counts of Breaking and entering a motor vehicle in the nighttime with intent to commit a felony.

Vicente says it appears that all the vehicles were left unlocked overnight.
