If you were hoping to catch some live music and grab a $20 prime rib special tonight at the Seaport Inn Grill, prepare to be disappointed.

The Fairhaven restaurant has closed its doors and taped up a note thanking its customers.

"To all our valued customers and friends: We have made the difficult decision to close our doors. As we do so, we cannot help but reflect on the many memories made with our loyal staff and customers and cannot thank you enough for your continued support throughout the years," the note read.

The note, which was also posted on the restaurant's social media, made reference to the live music that was performed, particularly under the tent during the summer.

Local musicians lamented on the restaurant's Facebook page. Sean Fitzgerald, lead singer from the ska group The NB Rude Boys, said that the Seaport Inn Grill bravely continued outdoor live music at a time when no one else would.

"Up against serious hardships, a global disaster and economic shackles, Tara and her staff cut a path for this area to enjoy live music when NO ONE else did," Fitzgerald wrote.

We spoke with Jami Calvao, General Manager of the Seaport Inn and Marina, who said while the restaurant portion of the complex is closed now, there is a very promising future for the property.

Calvao told us that the Seaport Inn property is preparing to be sold in the next six to eight weeks. Calvao said that after the sale, she expects the new ownership to renovate the existing hotel and lease out the space to a restaurant group. She also expects the new restaurant to have live entertainment and a bar.

Calvao wants to stress that the hotel and marina will remain open and there are no plans in place to close them. In fact, Calvao is confident that there will be a restaurant and bar running on the property by the summertime regardless of the sale.

"Whether or not the sale goes through," she said, "The restaurant will be re-opened in the summer with live music."
