Fairhaven Man Faces Charges of Drug Possession, Assaulting Police
NEW BEDFORD — A Fairhaven man faces multiple charges after he tried to resist arrest for a suspected drug transaction.
Thursday at about 2:18 p.m., New Bedford Police were investigating suspected narcotics activity on Mitchell Street. In the area of 45 Mitchell Street, police say they witnessed a man engaged in a drug transaction. When police approached him, he ran, and was apprehended moments later.
Police say that as they tried to place him under arrest, the man, 37-year-old Brandon Collin St. Pierre of Fairhaven, grabbed at officers and resisted.
St. Pierre was found to have an active warrant for his arrest. He was also in possession of a miniminal amount of Suboxone and Xanax.
He faces charges of assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, possession of a Class B drug (Suboxone) and possession of a Class E drug (Xanax).
Police say there were no injuries.
