NEW BEDFORD — A Fairhaven man with three drunk driving convictions was arrested again for operating under the influence.

Sunday morning at about 2:40 a.m., New Bedford Police observed a vehicle traveling south in a north-only section of Acushnet Avenue, in the area of Sawyer Street to Coggeshall Street. The vehicle then continued onto Route 18 near the 195 exit, before stopping for police.

Further investigation by police indicated that the driver, 61-year-old James D. Sikora of 22 Camel Street in Fairhaven, was under the influence of liquor. Sikora was arrested and charged with OUI liquor (fourth offense); operating with a suspended license; and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

Sikora was previously convicted of OUI liquor in 1990, 1991 and 2001, and his license was suspended.
