Fairhaven Bar's Dairy-Free Mudslide Means Fun Without the Gamble

If you love delicious adult beverages like mudslides but suffer from lactose intolerance, I have the perfect solution for you.

On Fairhaven’s West Island, there’s a spot known for three things: summer crowds, great entertainment and frozen mudslides. On a warm, sunny Saturday, Off the Hook sells more than 350 of these sought-after drinks.

“We tend to make several batches a day; it’s wildly popular,” bartender Matt Desruisseau said.

How does this place cater to folks with dairy sensitivity? The answer is in the drink.

The 56 Goulart Memorial Drive bar posted a social media photo of a mudslide that’s completely dairy-free. This delightful beverage is crafted with dairy-free Bailey's Irish cream and almond milk. Mix in the coffee liqueur and vodka, and you have yourself a mudslide that’s easy on the stomach, and perfect for enjoying good music, warm bay breezes and total relaxation.

From mouthwatering tacos to juicy smash burgers and fresh-catch lobster rolls, there’s something on the menu that pairs perfectly with an ice-cold mudslide on a hot summer day.

Off The Hook officially opened for the season in time for Memorial Day and is gearing up for yet another busy summer, especially now that it has upped the mudslde game.

To find the best beer in each state and Washington D.C., Stacker analyzed January 2020 data from BeerAdvocate, a website that gathers user scores for beer in real-time. BeerAdvocate makes its determinations by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington D.C. and applying a weighted rank to each. The weighted rank pulls the beer toward the list's average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rank. Only beers with at least 10 rankings to be considered; we took it a step further to only include beers with at least 100 user rankings in our gallery. The Best of South Shore Bar Pizza

There's pizza, and then there's South Shore Bar Pizza. Birthed in Brockton (and to this writer, perfected in Randolph – Lynwood Café is the true G.O.A.T.), it must meet certain qualifications to be considered "SSBP," which include: it's a 10-inch pie; it has a thin, cracker-like crust with minimal "flop;" the cheese is a blend that features more cheddar than mozzarella; and bonus points if you take it home between two carboard-type plates wrapped in flat brown paper bag. They also usually come with "laced" or "burnt" edges (terminology depends on where you are ordering), which is when the sauce and cheese are extended all the way to the edge of the pan, creating a crispy, flavorful coating to the crust. We reached out to the hugely popular South Shore Bar Pizza Social Club Facebook group to ask the experts to share the best of the best (in no particular order).
