The Acushnet Council on Aging along with the Acushnet Office of Emergency Management will host an Emergency Preparedness Workshop on Thursday, July 6 at 11 a.m.

According to South Coast Today.com, the workshop will be presented by Doug Forbes of the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency.

The event will take place at the Acushnet Council on Aging at 59 South Main Street in Acushnet.

Mr. Forbes will provide information on how to put together an emergency supplies kit and how to develop a family emergency plan.

"Mr. Forbes has worked for the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency for 33 years and he currently serves as a Local Coordinator for MEMA, Region II. He has also served as MEMA’s Individual Assistance Officer and Assistant Public Information Officer. Doug has assisted with disaster response and recovery during Hurricane Gloria, Hurricane Bob, the Berkshire Tornado, and many floods and winter storms. He is currently working on certification for Local and Regional Emergency Planning Committees throughout Southeastern Massachusetts."

Following the presentation by Mr. Forbes, there will be a short question-and-answer period with local Emergency Management officials regarding actions that can be taken during an emergency.
