The U.S. Geological Survey reports an earthquake struck Northern California early Sunday.  The quake had a magnitude of 6.0. Officials report dozens of injuries, several fires, and at least three people seriously hurt in the Napa area.

According to officials in Napa, the quake destroyed four mobile homes, and caused about 50 gas main breaks and 30 water main breaks. Several historic buildings were also damaged.  It's believed about 10,000 are without power.

People using social media described the quake as  "major shaker."  Others said buildings swayed and shook.  Still another person said "I haven't felt one this big since the early 90's."

The California Highway Patrol is now checking overpasses and bridges for any sign of structural damage.
