Driver Charged After Found Passed Out Behind the Wheel on Rt. 18

A 62-year-old New Bedford man is facing a charge after he was found unresponsive in his vehicle in the breakdown lane of Route 18.

New Bedford Police say Jose Hernandez of Pope Street was charged Sunday with driving under the influence of drugs. He was found in his car on the side of Route 18 south near Potomska Street early Sunday afternoon.

Hernandez was revived with Narcan and transported to St. Luke's Hospital for further treatment.

An immediate threat of license revocation was submitted to the Registry of Motor Vehicles.
