Pride month is in full swing here on the SouthCoast.

The month of June is a celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as a month that allows them a voice to express themselves and feel accepted and embraced by society.

Coming on June 29, the Main Library in downtown New Bedford will be hosting its first ever Drag Queen Story Time. The library encourages you to join them in celebrating Pride Month,15 years of legalized same-sex marriage in Massachusetts, the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots, and the recent inclusion of LGBTQIA+ history in the Massachusetts school curriculum.

Families are welcome to join Drag Queen Sweetheart Jacqueline DiMera for story time as she reads children's stories to promote diverse literacy. The program is free and no registration is required.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. in the Main Meeting Room of the Main Library, located at 613 Pleasant Street in New Bedford.
