The Mass. Dept of Public Health has approved  four more Registered Marijuana Dispensaries in counties that were not represented in the initial group of dispensaries approved earlier this year.

The four new proposals include two in Bristol County: Coastal Compassion, Inc in Fairhaven and Mass Medicum Corp. in Taunton.  The applicants were subject to individual and corporate background checks, a review of funding, investment sources, business and operational plans; verification of local outreach and other information provided in the application.

A total of 15 dispensaries are moving to the Inspection Phase.  As part of the Inspection Phase, the Program has been conducting site visits at dispensaries and cultivation sites to review floor plans, security, and cultivation operations to ensure product safety and quality; security, storage and transportation standards; and responsiveness to patient needs.

Medical Use of Marijuana Program Director Karen van Unen says she expects the first dispensaries to open sometime this winter.
