Disturbance Leads to OUI Arrest in New Bedford
NEW BEDFORD — A disturbance at a bar led to a city man’s OUI arrest early Sunday morning.
New Bedford Police say that at approximately 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning, officers responded to a disturbance at 1130 Purchase Street. Police say an argument had occurred, and one of the individuals involved had been observed by officers as he left the scene in his car.
The driver, identified as 29-year-old Malta Huertas, of South 1st Street in New Bedford, was subsequently stopped by the officers. A further investigating gave officers reason that Huertas was operating under the influence of alcohol and placed him under arrest.
Huertas faces charges of OUI liquor and possession of an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.
