Disturbance Caused by New Bedford Man at Ash Street Jail

NEW BEDFORD — A New Bedford man was arrested at Ash Street Jail around midnight on Monday morning.

New Bedford Police say Xavier Marrero, 23, of New Bedford was waiting for a relative at the jail, who was being transported following an arrest.

While officers were entering the jail, Marrero allegedly began to berrate the officers by banging on the garage door of the jail and causing a disturbance.

Marrero was arrested for disorderly conduct and no injuries were reported.
