Members of Fire District Three have voted in favor of a nearly $2.5 million expansion plan for the Cross Road Station in North Dartmouth.  The vote was 53 to 4.  The plan will add anywhere from $21 to $30 a year in new taxes for North Dartmouth residents, depending on the terms of the bond.  Glenes Walcott voted "no".

Prudential Committee Chair Alan King tells WBSM News, the district is doing all it can to hold down the costs for taxpayers.

King says the expansion will enable the fire department to better serve the business and residential community that make up the district.  The expansion will create eight sleeping areas for firefighters, a decontamination area, plus a kitchen and day room.  It will also add 134 square feet to the vehicle bay.
