Register of Probate Gina DeRossi is leaving her job in Bristol County, to become the new Court Administrator for the Mass. Appeals Court.

The appointment was announced Thursday by Appeals Court Chief Justice Mark Green who says "DeRossi brings a wealth of skills and experience to the Court Administrator position". He added, DeRossi's extensive knowledge of trial court policy and procedures will be a tremendous asset to the Appeals Court.

DeRossi was first elected as Register of Probate in 2008, and re-elected six years later.

DeRossi will begin her new position in late November, and will not serve out the remainder of her term as Register of Probate.

She's replacing Court Administrator Gilbert Lima who's retiring in early December.

The Appeals Court includes 25 justices, who sit in panels of three deciding up to 1,700 cases per year, reviewing decisions made by Trial Court judges throughout the Commonwealth.
