More Denny’s Closings Approved. Will The Fall River Location Go?
In 2024, 10 different restaurant chains filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and closed the doors of hundreds of locations across the country.
Just last fall, in fact, we learned that Denny's planned to close about 10 percent of its restaurants in order to avoid filing bankruptcy themselves and hopefully save the chain overall.
Though no official closings have been announced yet, word has come that even more locations are on the chopping block. So will the SouthCoast lose its only Denny's?

How Many Denny's Locations Are Closing?
At first the restaurant chain said about 150 locations would close by the end of 2025 in the hopes of strengthening the company's cash flow.

Now as 2025 has arrived, the chain says it is adding another 70 to 90 restaurants to its closure list, meaning over 200 of its 1,358 U.S. restaurants will be gone by the end of the year.
But which ones will go?
Which Denny's Restaurants Are Closing?
If the Denny’s stays true to Executive Vice President and Chief Global Development Officer Stephen Dunn's word, it is the older restaurants that will get cut first.
As he stated back when the closures were first announced:
Some of these restaurants can be very old. So when you think of a 70-year-old plus brand, you have a lot of restaurants that have been out there for a very long time.
That leads us to believe the Fall River Denny's will likely remain open.
Considering Fall River just got its Denny's back in 2018, chances are this isn't a location on the company's closure list.

The other nearby Denny's in South Attleboro only opened in 2022, so that location is likely to remain running as well.
Things may not stay the same at those restaurants, however.
The company says another part of its restructuring plan is to no longer operate every location 24/7. So even if our SouthCoast Denny's remains, its hours could be making a major adjustment.
