David Condon Named New Bedford Harbormaster

Mayor Jon Mitchell and the Harbor Development Commission have named a new Harbormaster.

The Mayor's office says both sides have agreed on David Condon as the man they want to be the next Harbormaster for the Port of New Bedford.

Condon's appointment must now be approved by the City Council.

Mayor Mitchell's office says Condon has held positions at the Steamship Authority and served as the Assistant Harbormaster in Yarmouth.

If approved by the City Council Condon would serve a five year term with an opportunity for renewal, in accordance with a bill passed by the Massachusetts State Legislature in 2014.

The position has been vacant as that legislation was advanced on Beacon Hill.
