In August, it was announced that Toys "R" Us would be making a comeback in 2022 thanks to a new partnership with Macy’s that would create a “Shop-in-Shops” experience.

Across the country, more than 400 of Macy’s 512 locations will dedicate a part of their stores to the Toys "R" Us brand, giving the beloved toy store a brick and mortar location for the first time since its closure in 2018.

Currently, there is no official information on how large the toy shop will be or which store locations will have the new toy departments. However, we have reason to believe that the Dartmouth Mall Macy’s location will be one of the many Toys "R" Us comeback locations.

Macy's Dartmouth has been quietly taking in shipments of toys and setting up large displays of toys on its second floor, next to the children's department.

You can see stacks and stacks of toys, signs on the back wall to indicate what toy brands are on the floor including Hasbro, FAO Schwarz, and Melissa & Doug. There are piles of Fisher Price toys, Nerf toys, Discovery and National Geographic toys, too – all brands that Toys "R" Us lists as their “Favorite Brands” on their micro-site within Macy’s.com

Further proof that this toy area is part of the Toys "R" Us buildout is the ability to order some of these toys online and have them ready for same day curbside pickup. You can see that the Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Color Mixing Bowl set pictured in the back left hand corner of the display can be purchased online and ready for pickup the same day.

So while it's not quite "Macy's said so" official, we feel pretty confident that Toys "R" Us will be part of the Dartmouth retail landscape once again.

There are currently 15 Macy's locations throughout Massachusetts.
