Wednesday morning at approximately 6 a.m. members of the Dartmouth Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section arrested a man who was wanted in connection with a New Year's Eve sexual assault.

Justin Camara, 25, listed as homeless, was arrested on a warrant associated with an alleged rape that occurred in Dartmouth, Det. Kyle Costa said in a media release.

"Our commitment to both the victim and the members of this community was unwavering when it came to swiftly bring this violent criminal to justice," said Dartmouth Police Chief Brian P. Levesque.

After he was booked, Camara was transported to New Bedford District Court to be arraigned. The investigation was conducted by Officer Cristina Brum with the assistance of Detective Costa and Dartmouth Crime Analyst Keri Lebeau, police said.

No further information was provided.
