(Correction: A previous typo from a press release named the deceased as Leslie Dewards. His name is Dewars.)

DARTMOUTH — An 80-year-old Dartmouth man died Friday afternoon on his property after getting trapped under a piece of construction equipment.

The Bristol County District Attorney's Office identified the man as Leslie Dewars of Pardon Hill Road.

According to a statement from the office, Dewars was apparently jacking up a Mustang Skid Steer loader off the ground to make repairs to the machine when it slid off a small piece of wood under the right front block, landing on top of him.

His wife called 911 Friday afternoon after finding him unresponsive under the machine.

Dartmouth fire crews moved the skid steer loader off the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:40 p.m. Friday, according to the D.A.'s office.

No foul play is suspected.
