NEW BEDFORD — New Bedford Police have arrested and charged a Dartmouth couple with fentanyl trafficking after a drug bust Monday in which they found over 40 grams of the drug.

Gary Hamel, 25, and his girlfriend Amy Gaspar, also 25, were both arrested and charged with drug trafficking after detectives searched their Dartmouth home on Monday.

Police said that on Aug. 2, narcotics and gang detectives searched the 16 East River Dr. house off Tucker Road.

They allegedly found 796 wax folds containing fentanyl, with more fentanyl in plastic bags, along with a cutting agent and over $200 in cash.

The total weight of the fentanyl found and seized was around 42 grams, police said.

No further details on the case have been released.
