Crash on Route 140 in New Bedford Backs Up Traffic for Miles

NEW BEDFORD — A crash on Route 140 in New Bedford has left traffic backed up for miles.

Multiple tips into the WBSM Newsroom report a tractor-trailer detoured at Exit 8 leading to Chase Road in the southbound lanes of the highway.  Tips into the newsroom indicated that traffic was backed up for miles on Route 140 South as emergency crews worked the scene.

Other reports also stated that it appeared first responders were also addressing a death at the scene. WBSM News is working to confirm those claims with local and state police.

Motorists are advised to avoid that area of the highway as the scene is being cleared.
