Councilors Want To Visit Pennsylvania Casino

Members of the New Bedford City Council wants to visit the community of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, to see how a casino there has impacted that city.

The Bethlehem Sands Casino was developed by K-G Urban Enterprises, the same firm that wants to bring a casino to New Bedford's waterfront.

The idea for the trip came from Councilor Debra Coelho.....

Coelho thinks the Council may have some money to pay for the trip, but if not, she's willing to pick up the tab for herself and report back to city residents.

Coelho also wants a videographer from New Bedford Cable Access to accompany the Council to Bethlehem, so local residents can see video of what's happening in Bethlehem.

The matter will be discussed further in the Council's Committee on Gaming.
