Fort Taber Park received some recognition during Tuesday's City Council meeting.

The Council is requesting the Federal Government designate the location as a National Veterans Memorial Park.

Councilor-At-Large Brian Gomes says the unique location deserves national recognition.

Veterans on the Council, David Alves and Jim Oliveira, are also co-sponsoring the motion. Oliveira hopes that some additional federal funding could come along with the national recognition.

The park is currently undergoing renovations to make it more accessible to the public.
