City Council President Joseph Lopes says the Council is still on schedule to select a new City Clerk at its July meeting.

Lopes says the council is reviewing the credentials of 38 candidates in the first round of applications, plus another five candidates deemed "qualified" by the city's Personnel Office.

Lopes tells WBSM News, the Council is still in line to make its choice on the 17th.

Lopes says the names of the nominated candidates will appear on the City Council agenda when its completed next week.

The vacancy was created when City Clerk Rita Arruda retired at the end of June.
