Car Found Partially Submerged in Clark’s Cove Tuesday
DARTMOUTH — A car has been recovered from the waters of South Dartmouth Tuesday morning.
Dartmouth Police Detective Kyle Costa says the car was discovered partially submerged in Clark's Cove approximately 50 to 75 feet from the shore line near Rogers Street before 6 a.m. on Tuesday. Costa says the car was submerged in about three-and-a-half feet of water.
Detective Costa says before Dartmouth Police arrived on the scene, members of the New Bedford Fire Department were able to confirm that there were no occupants in the vehicle when the discovery of the car was made.
A dive team was able to successfully attach a tow line to the vehicle so that it could be brought out of the water.
Upon further investigation, Dartmouth Police found the keys were in the ignition of the car, a 2012 Ford Focus, with a rock on the accelerator.
The vehicle is registered to a 63-year-old New Bedford man.
Dartmouth Police are investigating.
