Bristol County Correctional Officer Dies

A correctional officer who worked at the Bristol County House of Correction has died, the office of Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson announced today on Twitter.

"We're heart-broken to announce the passing of CO Stacey Merkman, a dear member of the BCSO family," Hodgson's office announced. "Please keep her family, especially COs Sonya and Ronald Merkman, in your prayers. We love you Stacey; Rest in Peace."

The cause and manner of Merkman's death was not revealed. A spokesman for the Bristol County Sheriff's office confirmed that Merkman did not die of COVID-19.
