A homeless man is charged with a break-in Thursday morning in New Bedford. Police say neighbors chased down the suspect in the city's West End.

According to Det. Captain Steve Vicente, a resident spotted a man leaving her Mt. Vernon Street garage around 8:30am, carrying bags of tools that she recognized as belonged to her.

She yelled for help and several neighbors chased the suspect till he was taken into custody by Police at Durfee and Richmond Streets.

Vicente says 54 year old David Vincent was charged with breaking and entering. He appeared in New Bedford District Court later in the day.
