NEW BEDFORD — Good detective work by New Bedford Police led to an arrest for a break-in and attempted break-in at two separate businesses in New Bedford.

Luis Agostini, 38, of 60 South Second Street 3L, New Bedford, was charged Thursday, June 28, with breaking and entering in the nighttime, larceny from a building and larceny of a motor vehicle.

He is charged with break-ins on May 26 into Costa's Cash Express, 211 Union Street, New Bedford, and an attempted break-in at Za's Smokeshop, 1894 Acushnet Avenue, New Bedford on May 23. On both nights, two separate stolen vehicles were used.

An investigation continues to determine if additional charges will be filed or if accomplices will be arrested.

Charges may also be coming from Acushnet Police for a break-in at an Acushnet business.
