Bousquet Defends City Council Involvement In School Issues

Ward Three Councilor Henry Bousquet says City Councilors were elected to serve the citizens of New Bedford, and that's what the council is doing by learning more about issues in the School Department.

Bousquet is dismissing criticism that the Council is sticking its nose into areas where it doesn't belong, like the school budget.

Bousquet says the Council also plays a role in public safety, and that's why its interested in reported violence in city schools.

To the critics of the Council, Bousquet says "shame on them."
