About the Legacy of Broadway's Blockbuster Musical
Wicked first opened on Broadway in 2004, winning three Tony Awards.
"Wicked is a Broadway phenomenon that looks at what happened in the Land of Oz... but from a different angle," according to Playbill. The action begins long before Dorothy arrives on the scene.
The film Wicked opened in 2024 and became an instant cult classic. The two-part film version of Wicked is based on the stage show, which was based on a book, and was nominated for 10 Academy Awards and won two.
