Boston Celebrates Retiring WWE Superstar with ‘John Cena Day’
John Cena, the 17-time WWE world champion, can add yet another accomplishment to his résumé.
The West Newbury, Massachusetts native is just weeks away from officially hanging up his jorts. He announced in Summer 2024 that he would be retiring from the wrestling world at the end of 2025, and now his final match is slated for December 13, 2025.
As he makes his final tour stops, Cena performed one last time Monday night in his home state of Massachusetts at TD Garden in Boston. It was there that he received special recognition from Governor Maura Healey declaring it John Cena Day in Boston.

A Big Honor
November 10 will go down as quite possibly one of the most memorable days for Cena.
TD Garden shared the citation from Governor Healey on its Instagram page. It was one of the many things Cena will cherish from his final battle in Boston.
Cena had the crowd on its feet at TD Garden as Celtic green filled the arena, although this time the green was for his final Boston-themed t-shirt.

He told the audience, "It's gonna be good" before holding up a rally towel with the phrase "The Last Time is Now" written in a similar style as a Boston Celtics championship banner.
A New Grand Slam Champion
The smile quickly washed away from Cena's face when the time came to take on his challenger, Dominik Mysterio, better known to WWE fans as "Dirty Dom."
Cena's opponent took to the mic before the match began claiming he had more talent than Cena ever had throughout his career, words he'd soon regret after the match.
