Body Found Hanging from Tree at Fort Taber

New Bedford Police have confirmed to WBSM News that a body was discovered Monday afternoon hanging from a tree at Fort Taber Park in New Bedford.

The body was discovered by passersby in the wooded area atop Battery Milliken at the far northwest end of the park around 5 p.m. Monday. Police say the victim is a 39-year-old New Bedford man dead of an apparent suicide.

New Bedford Police and Fire units responded to the scene. The State Medical Examiner has taken custody of the body.
