Blood Bank Closes At St. Luke’s Hospital

The Blood Bank at St. Lukes Hosptal has closed.

Spokesman Peter Cohenno says the Blood Bank closed its doors on Wednesday.

He says the Blood Bank's nine employees have been offered other positions in the hospital or with the American Red Cross.

According to Cohenno, Southcoast Health has formed a partnership with the Red Cross to supply blood to the hospital.

Cohenno says the move was all about improving efficiency and availability of blood supplies
