The South Terminal Project in New Bedford is taking another step forward as the state is now accepting bids from contractors.

According to published reports, it could cost as much as 100 million dollars and is on an accelerated timetable so the terminal can be finished in time to serve as a staging area for the Cape Wind project.

Bids are due by January 23rd and the actual construction will start in the first quarter of 2013. The project could generate about 270 construction jobs.
