Description:

Every 10 years, the United States counts its population with a Census. The Census is extremely important to local communities since the Census determines the amount each community receives through the Federal Government for things like health care, infrastructure, and schools.

2020 is a Census year and New Bedford is doing its part to ensure all our residents are counted. We are looking for ambassadors to attend community events to spread the word about the Census - what it is, why it is important, and how to take the Census.

New Bedford Census Ambassadors will be notified about upcoming events and can choose which events work best with their schedules. Ambassadors will be given an outreach kit they can use at each community event to ensure they have all the necessary information to distribute to the public.

This is an ongoing volunteer opportunity. Learn more about the Census at www.census.gov. The New Bedford Complete Count Committee is working to educate the community on the importance of completing the Census. Making sure everyone in New Bedford is extremely important and determines how federal funding is distributed to states and communities each year. Everyone Counts in New Bedford.
