Finally, new life is coming to the South End and taking over the former Libad's Seaside Tavern.

The 578 Brock Ave. establishment was known for many years as Libad's Bar & Grille until Bar Rescue upgraded it in 2013 and created Libad's Seaside Tavern.

Unfortunately, the bar was among those that didn't survive the pandemic and was put up for sale in February 2021.

Fast forward to today and it has been confirmed that three childhood friends, whose bond is as strong as family, have stepped up to breathe new life into a New Bedford staple.

Adam Clark, Derek Conceicao and Jeffrey Correia are gearing up to open 3 C's Bar & Grille at the site, which sold for $315,000 in January. They've known each other since grammar school and have teamed up to renovate and reopen the business in their hometown.

How The Libad's Purchase Happened

"It came about by accident in a way," Clark told Fun 107. "A friend of mine sent me the listing for the bar. He's financially well-off so he bought the building and I had just sold a house in Fall River that I owned and was able to use the money from that to buy the business.

"I was at Libad's right before the pandemic and I was talking with some of the guys who worked there. They were having a difficult time keeping up financially so I told them that if I ever had the money, I would buy it."

On The Menu

"We're going to have pub food and, of course, keep the pizzas that were once popular at Libad's, wings, burgers, hot dogs, nachos, and mozzarella sticks, to name a few," Clark said.

Projected Opening

"It's difficult to give a hard date, but will definitely be done with renovations and doors open to the public before summer," Clark said.

Staff

"As of right now, we're still working on that," Clark said. "We have a few people we're talking to, but haven't reached out to a wider group or publicized it quite yet."

Will the Infamous Mechanical Bull Make a Come Back?

"I've been asked that several times and I don't think that's what we want to do," Clark said with a laugh. "However, we're going to have about 10 new TVs to have all the games on during the NFL season. Whether you're a Patriots, Cowboys or Bengals fan, we'll have them all on."
