New Bedford Baby Critical

1½-month-old boy is in critical condition with a brain injury at a Providence hospital and the child's father is charged with injuring him. According to police the child is at hasbro children's hospital with a brain injury that is considered life-threatening. According to Detective Captain Steven Vicente the child's father 25 year old Tristan Martel Walker of Coggeshall St., is charged with assault and battery on a child with serious injury. Walker is being held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing  in New Bedford District Court. He was arrested and arraigned in district court Friday. Vicente says police were called to Walker's apartment about 5:30 a.m. on july 29 in response to a child who wasn't breathing. The child was 40 days old at the time. Walker was not living with the baby's mother at the time.
