Assault, Firearm Discharge Under Investigation in New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD —Police are investigating an incident that involved an assault with a possible discharge of a firearm.

New Bedford Police were called to the Southcoast Condominiums at 2120 Phillips Road at 10:15 a.m. Monday, July 9.

When police arrived, a male said that two other males had assaulted him, striking him with an object he believed to be a firearm, and firing the firearm. He said they entered his residence and removed something from the house.

The men fled in a vehicle. The victim received minor injuries and did not request medical treatment.

Police are investigating.
