NEW BEDFORD - Applications for seasonal summer employment opportunities with the City of New Bedford Department of Parks, Recreation & Beaches are now available. The department hires seasonal help for 8-10 weeks during the summer months in a variety of program areas. Many positions are entry level for youth ages 16-24, while others require professional experience.

Summer programs now hiring include the Play in the Park and Summer Food Program, Kennedy Summer Day Program, Beach Parking Operations, and Waterfront Lifeguarding.  This year we will also be hiring a Park Ambassador at Fort Taber to help with special events and guiding and informing park patrons. More than seventy positions will be offered through Parks, Recreation & Beaches for this summer for New Bedford residents seeking a summer opportunity or job-related experience.

Applications are available at the Administrative Office of Parks Recreation & Beaches at 181 Hillman St. Bldg 3 or on the “Jobs & Employment” section of the City of New Bedford website,  All applications must be returned to the Administrative Office of Parks Recreation & Beaches at 181 Hillman St. Bldg 3, Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00 am-4:00pm.  Applications will be accepted until April 20, 2018.

Positions offered include: Site Supervisors, Van Drivers, Van Aides, Beach Parking staff, Kennedy Summer Day Program staff (experience preferred), Lifeguards (must have proper certifications) and Park Ambassador.  Applicants must be 16 years of age by July 2, 2018.

Applicants must attend mandatory training before the start of employment.
