FALL RIVER — At least 30 gravestones have been vandalized with anti-Semitic language and swastikas at the Hebrew Cemetery on McMahion Street in Fall River.

According to the Herald News, Fall River Police became aware of the graffiti on Sunday after receiving a report that a suspicious vehicle had been parked in the cemetery for two days.

The anti-Semitic graffiti was apparently scrawled in black marker.  Swastikas were found on about 10 gravestones, one of which the words “heil Hitler,” written on it, with another reading, “Hitler was right.”

Ethnic slurs also covered gravestones, including that of a veteran.

“Oy vey! This is MAGA country,” a reference to President Donald Trump’s campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again,” was written above the menorah carved into one gravestone.

Two more gravestones were defaced with the words, “Day of the Rope,” an apparent reference to the novel, “The Turner Diaries,” which is about a white supremacist army that overturns the United States government, according to the Anti-Defamation League.

The defaced tombstones were on the north side of the cemetery, which dates back to the 19th Century.

This past October, gravestones were vandalized at Acushnet Cemetery.

Fall River Police say no arrests have been made as the investigation continues.
