There's been another attack on a teacher at New Bedford High School.

Supt. Dr. Pia Durkin tells WBSM News, an agitated female student threw an metal trash can on Tuesday, striking a female teacher.  WBSM News was told the teacher was struck on the head.  Officials quickly stepped in and took control of the situation. The teacher has since been checked out medically, and Supt. Durkin is hoping the teacher will return to the classroom soon.

Durkin says the student involved will no longer attend New Bedford High School.

Durkin also joined with school officials on Wednesday at the high school, holding three assemblies with students urging them to make good decisions.  She said the assemblies were quote, "well received."
