NEW BEDFORD - A New Bedford man escapes serious injury after his head was grazed by a bullet Wednesday evening.

Police say they responded to 20 Nye Street shortly before 5:30 pm Wednesday evening for a report of three shots fired. When police arrived, they found no property damage or injured people.

Later that night, however, police were called to St. Luke's Hospital for a gunshot victim who had come in around 9pm. The 45-year-old New Bedford man was treated for a graze wound to his head, telling police he was shot in the area of 20 Nye Street. The man's injuries are not considered life threatening.

It's the second time this week a New Bedford man has received a gunshot wound to the head. Tuesday night, a man was shot in the right temple at 51 Tallman Street. As of Wednesday morning, he was listed in extremely critical condition at Rhode Island Hospital.
