Angelina Jolie Has Double Mastectomy

Angelina Jolie has written a new op ed piece in the New York Timeswhich reveals that she underwent a double mastectomy to lower her cancer risk. The 37-year-old completed three months of medical procedures in April and will be documenting her experience for the Pink Lotus Breast Center website.

The mother of six wrote, "Doctors estimated that I had an 87 percent risk of breast cancer and a 50 percent risk of ovarian cancer. Once I knew that this was my reality, I decided to be proactive." Jolie added, "I am fortunate to have a partner, Brad Pitt, who is so loving and supportive. For any woman reading this, I hope it helps you to know you have options."
