Alves Pushes For Soccer Field At Former Elco Dress Site

A New Bedford City Councilor is eyeing a former manufacturing site as a location for a new soccer field. 

Councilor David Alves has been an advocate for more soccer fields in New Bedford. 

He says the Elco Dress site off Church Street has been made available to developers several times, but no one has shown interest.....

The City Council will discuss the Elco Dress site Wednesday night at City Hall. 

The matter is expected to be sent to the Special Committee on Soccer Fields and the Mayor's Office. 

Alves says he's also discussing with the state, the possibility of using land off Route 18 for a soccer field as well.
