After Chase, New Bedford Man Arrested on Several Charges
NEW BEDFORD — Police saw a man driving a scooter the wrong way on Thompson Street on Wednesday afternoon. The scooter failed to stop for police and continued driving the wrong way on several one-way streets.
The driver eventually dumped the scooter on West Rodney French Boulevard and fled on foot. The man broke into a shed on McGurk Street, causing damage, and jumped over two wooden fences, breaking them in half.
When he was apprehended behind a home on McGurk Street, officers found him to be in possession of crack cocaine.
Luis Quinones, 26, of Welcome Street, New Bedford was arrested and charged with failure to stop, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, possession of cocaine, disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct, breaking an entering and three counts of destruction of property.
