African American Customers Refused Service at South Carolina Restaurant

Michael Brown, an African-American man waited patiently with his party of 25 family members and friends to be seated.

After a 2 hour wait at the Wild Wing Café in North Charleston, SC, the manager approached Mr. Brown and informed him that a “situation” had come up by a white customer who felt threatened by his group

and asked that they not be seated in that section.

During this, a member of Brown’s group began videotaping the conversation, angering the manager who then refused to seat the group, all together. The manager all but admitted she discriminated against everyone but that didn’t change anything. Mr. Brown was contacted by the corporate office with an apology and offer for complimentary meals for the group, but Mr. Brown said, “This is not a situation where you can just give us a free meal and everything is okay.

It goes deeper than that.” Mr. Brown has since taken the dispute to Facebook, gathering attention around the country.
