Admiring Home Runs Should Not Be Offensive
David Price of the Tampa Bay Rays got upset when David Ortiz hit his second home run in game 2 of the ALDS. HIs statement after the game was that he should just run.
Big Papi wanted it head for the stands for about 3 seconds before he started towards first base. No one was sure if the ball would even stay fair.
Baseball has a lot of unwritten rules, and supposedly one of them is to not watch home runs because it shows up the pitcher. Why are pitchers so offended by a few seconds of admiring a giant blast into the stands? Players only do it when its a no doubter and its not like they are pointing in the face of the pitcher, well, minus one incident that you can see below.
Pitchers, stop worrying about a batter watching a majestic home rom for a few seconds and worry about hot giving up bombs instead.
