Acushnet Man to Face Child Pornography, Fugitive Charges in Florida [UPDATE]

An Acushnet man faces multiple charges after trying to lure children from Florida to Massachusetts by using his computer.

According to the Bristol County District Attorney's office, 41-year-old Anthony DeSilva of Acushnet was arrested Wednesday afternoon by Acushnet and State Police on a Fugitive from Justice charge, stemming from charges of Child Pornography. A spokesman for the D.A. says DeSilva faces ten counts of using a computer to lure a child.

DeSilva was arraigned in New Bedford District Court Thursday morning as a fugitive.

He has signed rendition papers and will be transported to Florida Friday morning to face charges there.

According to the Herald News, DeSilva told police officers that he knew the ages of the boys. The investigation began back in July when the police started to hear rumors of the online relationships.

DeSilva is also the coach of several youth sports, including hockey and baseball.
