Acushnet Laundromat Catches Trash Can Thief on Camera
I wish I was making this up, but in an unusual turn of events early Sunday morning, a man walked into an Acushnet laundromat and walked out with something unexpected: a trash can.
The incident took place at Wash World on South Main Street at approximately 7:43 a.m. on July 13. Surveillance footage captured by the business’s Ring camera shows an unidentified man casually entering the laundromat, grabbing a trash barrel and strolling right back out the door with it in hand.
Caught on Camera: The Trash Can Grab
The footage has since been circulated on local Facebook groups, where community members are scratching their heads over the bizarre crime. Lance Sylvia, father of the laundromat’s owner, shared the video and a plea for help identifying the individual.
“Anyone know who this is?” he wrote. “Someone stole my trash can from my son's store. Really?? A trash can? Omg.”

Though it may seem minor to some, Sylvia emphasized the principle behind the situation, that even a small act of theft can be frustrating and disheartening for a local business.
The post quickly gained traction online, with many echoing the sentiment that while it may be "just a trash can," it’s still stealing (and still wrong).

At this time, the suspect remains unidentified, and the trash can has not been returned. Anyone with information is encouraged to reach out to the business or comment anonymously on the original post.
